The American Heart Association BLS Provider Renewal Course is physically active class designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who hold a current certification in BLS Provider (including the 2020 Guidelines updates) to renew BLS skills and review their importance to the AHA Chain of Survival. This accelerated course reviews the need to give high-quality CPR and provide early use of an AED for the adult, child/infant and to provide effective ventilations using a barrier device. The importance of teamwork in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during a multi-rescuer CPR event is covered and practiced. Also included is relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants. Upon successful completion of all requirements, participants will receive a BLS Provider Certification eCard valid for 2 years.
This course is physically demanding. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. CPR is hard work in both practice on a manikin and doing CPR for a cardiac arrest victim.
