This American Heart Association course implementing the 2020 Guidelines is a physically active class and is designed to train healthcare professionals in the AHA Chain of Survival with special regard to the BLS components. The course focuses on the need to give high-quality CPR and provide early use of an AED for the adult, child/infant and to provide effective ventilations using a barrier device. The importance of teamwork in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during a multi-rescuer CPR event is covered and practiced. Also included is relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants. Upon successful completion of all requirements, participants will receive a BLS Provider certification eCard valid for 2 years.
This course is physically demanding. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. CPR is hard work in both practice on a manikin and during the resuscitation of a cardiac arrest victim.
