This course is designed for those who are NOT in the healthcare field and require a certification in First Aid, CPR and AED to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Upon successful completion of all course requirements, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED card valid for two years.
This American Heart Association 6 hour course includes CPR, choking and use of the Automated External Debrillator (AED) for adults, children and infants as well as basic first aid principals including how to recognize and care for victims of sudden illness and injuries such as bleeding, shock, poisoning, burns and heat/cold related illness. Skills are taught using the Practice-While-Watching technique and allows AHA instructors to observe, provide feedback and guide acquisition of skills.
The CPR portion of this course is physically demanding. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing and lifting. CPR is hard work in both practice on a manikin and doing CPR for a cardiac arrest victim.
